Teen of the Year

This Program is sponsored by Reader's Digest Foundation and administered by Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Program recognizes exemplary character, leadership skills, academic achievement and outstanding service to the Club and the community. The teen selected as the base Youth of the Year competes at the State level and if selected will then compete at the Regional level. If selected at the Regional competition the individual competes at the National level. Local winners receive an attractive plaque and other gifts from base agencies. State winners receive a special plaque. Regional winners receive an engraved plaque and a $5000 scholarship. The teen selected as the National Youth of the Year receives the treasured National Youth of the plaque and an additional scholarship award of $10,000. In addition, the base Youth of the Year will compete in the AFMC Youth of the Year contest that celebrates and recognizes the achievements of the positive contributions teens make on the installation in their community. Each Air Force Base Youth of the Year participates in a ceremony during June in Washington DC to recognize them for their accomplishments as their base Youth of the Year. Command winners are also recognized and honored during the ceremony.
