What is the
Parent Advisory Committee?
The Parent Advisory Committee is comprised of and chaired by
parents who have children enrolled in the Child Development
Centers and Family Child Care programs.
What
is the purpose of the Committee?
The purpose of the committee is to design an annual parent
involvement plan, oversee parent/child activities and
encourage parent participation in all aspects of their
child's care.
Why do we have a Parent Advisory Committee?
Because the CDCs and FCC programs want to give parents the
opportunity to meet with each other on a formal and informal
basis, work together on projects to support the program,
learn from and provide support for each other (NAEYC
Criteria 1A.12).
"Parents assist us by coming up with program improvement
ideas and suggestions along with parent participation
activities," said Karen Bradley, CDC West director.
Parent participation activities for the remainder of the
year are as follows:
July - Summer Fest
Aug. - Open House
Sept. - Picnic Lunch
Oct. - Fall Fest
Nov. - Teddy Bear Portraits
Dec. - Cookie Decorating
"The Parent Advisory Committee also gives the parents
enrolled in the CDC and FCC programs an opportunity to take
on leadership roles within our programs," said Bradley. |
