Club Membership 926-2670

The 2008 Card Choice club drive will kick off July 15 with a new feature to allow new and current club members the choice between a MasterCard credit card or a Proprietary membership card. New members will receive six months free dues and a scratch-off card for a chance to win $5, $10, $25 or $100.

All new and current members will be able to register on-line for a chance to win $1,000. Ten members will be selected Air Force-wide at the end of the drive. Six-months free dues and scratch-off cards are not available to members who choose to switch to a proprietary card. The club drive will end Oct. 15. The club will hold two kick-off events July 16. The “Scent of Membership” will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will be free to all. Prize drawings will be conducted for new and current members at the “Scent of Membership.” Membership Appreciation Night will begin at 5 p.m. Buffet will be held from 5 – 7 p.m.  and entertainment will be provided from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Cost is free for members and spouses and $7.95 for guests.  Sign up as a member that night and dine for free. Arts & Crafts Center 926-5282

The Arts & Crafts Center will hold the following classes in July:

           Beginning matting/framing July 15 and 17 from 6 – 9 p.m., cost $12.50

           Acrylic painting landscapes July17 and 24 from 10 a.m. – noon, cost $12

           Kids acrylic painting July 15 and 22 from 4:30 – 6 p.m., cost $7

           Sketching July 18 and 25 from 10 – 11:30 a.m., cost $7 kids/$10 adults

           Advanced painting critique (need three to start) July 16 and 23 from 4:30 – 6 p.m., cost $30 (both days)

           Folio album July 17 from 5 – 7 p.m., cost $15

           Mosaic for kids 10 years and older July 11 – Aug. 1 from 1:30 – 3 p.m., cost $50 (4 weeks)

           Beginning stained glass (days) July 11 – Aug. 15 from noon – 12:30 p.m., cost $90 (6 weeks)

           Yard art chimes in stained glass July 14 – Aug. 18 from 10 am. – 12:30 p.m., cost $75 (6 weeks)

           Scroll saw July 23 from 6 – 8 p.m., cost $12

           Beginning and advanced digital photography class needs 10 people to start, please let us know if you are interested in taking any of these classes.

Advance registration and payment is required for all classes. Classes are subject to change without notice.  Wood shop safety classes are held Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and auto shop safety and orientation classes are held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and every Saturday at 11 a.m. free of charge. Registration is not required.  Do-it-yourself framing is available Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Do-it-yourself framing, during the evening and Saturdays, is scheduled by appointment only.  All classes are open to active duty, reserve and retired military and family members and DoD civilians.  For more information, please call the Arts & Crafts Center at 926-5282.

“Time to Get Caught in a Story” is the theme for the summer reading program to be held now – July 21 starting at 10 a.m. for preschoolers and 11 a.m. for school age children.  For more information call the library at 327-8761.

 

Community Center 926-2105

A yard sale will be held July 12 from 8 a.m. – noon in front of the Heritage Club, Bldg. 956. Set up starts at 7:15 a.m. and tables can be purchased in advance for $7 per table (limit three per person). For more information call the community center at 926-2105.

 

Shape up or ship out during the Build-a-boat competition July 14 at the Heritage Club pool.  Teams may consist of four to eight people.  Competition begins with boat construction outside the pool area at 5 p.m. with races at 7:30 p.m.  Winners will be recognized for the fastest boat, best looking boat, most team spirit and the Titanic. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to Movies Under the Stars July 18 for a presentation of “Waterhorse.”  The movie will start at dark in a new location behind the Heritage Club.  For more information call the community center at 926-2105.

The community center is offering a FAMWEB lending program for military families and civilians whose family member is deployed on a remote assignment.  You may rent a web camera, for free, for up to two weeks or longer depending on case to case situations.    For more information call the community center at 926-2105.

 

Designated Drivers Program

The 78th Force Support Squadron offers designated driver programs at the Heritage Club, Horizons and Pizza Depot to assist in reducing alcohol related incidents. For groups of two or more, please identify yourself as the designated driver to the operations assistant on duty. They will provide fountain soft drinks, fruit juices or non-alcoholic frozen drinks during your visit free of charge. Joint Forces Bingo 926-4515

Membership bar bingo will be held on July 16 and “Hot Nights” big bingo will be held July 24 with door prizes, snacks and more money games. Both events will begin at 7:15 p.m. 

Joint Forces Bingo is located in the east wing of the Robins Enlisted Club. The hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with games starting at 7:15 p.m. Games begin at 2:45 p.m. on Sundays. Enjoy bar bingo five nights a week at 6 p.m. Anyone with an active duty, reserve, guard, retired, DoD or family member identification card is eligible to play. The entry fee is free to all Robins’ club members, bona fide guests and active duty or retired widow club members and $5 for eligible non-club members. Outdoor Adventure 926-4001

Outdoor Adventure invites you to a walking/running Volkssport Sept. 6 in Rome, Ga.  This paved trail accommodates hikers and strollers. Bowling Center 926-2112

Every Monday in July from 1 – 8 p.m. is red-head pin day.  Bowl a strike when the red pin is in the number one position and that game is free. For more information call the bowling center at 926-2112.

 

The Air Force Services Summer Strike Force bowling promotion has taken off.  Patrons will receive punch cards when participating in bowling center programs for the chance to win prizes of a $500 grand prize or $250 runner up.  There will be monthly prize drawings.
